A reading and conversation between longtime anarchists, writers, artists, organizers, troublemakers, and co-conspirators discussing their new books, Cultural Capital Doesn’t Pay the Rent by Jessica Lawless (PM Press) and Terry Dactyl by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore (Coffee House Press). Spanning from the 1980s to the present in both memoir and fiction, these books depict radical possibility and peril in Seattle, from Home Alive to the protests of 2020. With a focus on friendship, failure, and resistance amidst never-ending grief and heartbreak, join us for an intimate, incisive conversation.

Throw fists at fascist provocateurs, avoid trouble from Pigs and Ticks, and contend with leftist infighting while you organize mutual aid networks into an antifascist resistance movement. Game designer E.V. Debs will be teaching how to play and answering questions about the game.
Ritual Performance as Resistance – C
As anarchists, it is our joy [fuck “duty”] to wage war on the status quo, if only culturally. Our connection to the wild parts of us have been suppressed by religious conditioning, capitalist work culture, respectability politics and general imperatives toward societal compliance. In public or private ritual chambers, we can use movement, vocalization, costuming, props, etc. to release, to explore, to connect. Many of us have engaged drag, clowning, improv, stand-up comedy, etc. as a hobby or side hustle, but few consciously explore the physical-based theatre arts to harness the primal in service of radical liberation. Through a series of loosely structured theatre games, we will move our bodies [open to all ability levels], practice screaming and enjoy a few moments away from the repression of polite society. It will be cathartic, if nothing else…

Trans+ joy and reproductive choice are powerful forces of autonomy and freedom from authoritarianism. Join us for a conversation and visioning session about trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive family building and reproductive choice. This panel springs from the recent anthology Seahorses: Trans, Nonbinary, and Gender-Expansive Pregnancy, edited by Simon Knaphus with contributors including other workshop presenter(s). Cis allies and co-conspirators are welcome.

An asexual’s experience having to fuck their way to having space in the anarchist milieux in zine form started conversations about how anarchists relate to each other for better or worse. A pattern of people finding themselves questioning the crazy ideas shared about sex and relationships to each other, while others started challenging the way they view relationships to others, sexually and non-sexually, ensued. Is it ever a bad time to question everything? In this space, facilitated by nemesis, let’s talk about allonormativity and amatonormativity, what relationship anarchy can look like when separated from the idea of romantic-sexual relationships, and start to dream and scheme of how we can stop forcing ourselves into being something we are not for the sake of having space socially. This is for the fuckables, the folks who fucked up, the friend lovers, and the folks questioning the ways we hurt each other with peer pressure even as anarchists in interpersonal relationships.
Prison, Persecution, and Resistance: The Case of Miguel Peralta and the Community of Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón, Oaxaca/Cárcel, persecución y resistencia: el caso de Miguel Peralta y la comunidad de Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón, Oaxaca – C
This bilingual (English and Spanish) presentation will offer a brief history of the repression and criminalization against the Indigenous Mazatec community of Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón, Oaxaca, and specifically the case of the anarchist Miguel Peralta. We will talk about the history of the conflict in Eloxochitlán; the processes of criminalization, persecution, and imprisonment against members of the community assembly, and the current situation of Miguel Peralta, who continues facing political persecution from the Mexico State.
Esta ponencia bilingüe (inglés y español) ofrecerá una breve historia de la represión y criminalización contra la comunidad indígena mazateca de Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón, Oaxaca, y, específicamente el caso del anarquista Miguel Peralta. Hablaremos de la historia del conflicto en Eloxochitlán; de los procesos de criminalización, persecución y encarcelamiento contra miembros de la asamblea comunitaria, y de la situación actual de Miguel Peralta, quien sigue enfrentándose a la persecución política por parte del Estado Mexicano.

DIY Police Research: Breaking Through the Blue Wall – C
Join DivestSPD, Seattle’s community cop watchdog, to learn how to discover just about anything about the police. In this interactive presentation, we’ll collect your questions about policing and translate them into steps you can take to get the answers. We’ll help you navigate the public records process, teach you tips and shortcuts, and provide you with the same tools we use to uncover police misconduct week after week. We believe that policing’s harms shouldn’t stay hidden behind a blue wall of secrecy. By crowdsourcing the work of exposing police abuse, DivestSPD aims to delegitimize police power while creating a horizontal, grassroots movement that is informed and equipped to challenge the state.
